Three Tips to the Eye of Photography
1. Lighting
It is important to have an eye for lighting because it can help you understand when to take certain images at certain times of the day. It can also change your photograph completely depending on if you have soft or harsh light. Soft light is early and late in the day which creates soft shadows because the lighting comes at an angle. Harsh lighting is when the light is directly on your subject which causes dark shadows. Dark shadows are not always ideal in photography.

2. Color
When speaking about color it does not always mean one of the colors of the rainbow. Instead, it means contrasting the colors of your subject so they compliment one another. This relates back to light and shadows, warm and cool tones, solid against translucent. This gives you a variety within your image, allowing the viewer to have their attention move throughout the photograph. Without contrast in your images, there will be nothing for your viewer to scan through and look at, which causes them to have less interest.

3. Composition
One of the most important parts of the composition is the rule of thirds. The grids on your camera have three columns and it is important to not have your subject directly in the middle of the grid. Instead, you would want to place your subject on the lines or where the points of the grid intersect. However, it is also important to not have a big void on the other side of your images because you will need to keep the photograph balanced. Other useful things about composition is creating depth, symmetry and framing.
